Tritium-activated RGB reference sources for the calibration of CRTs
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper proposes the use of tritium-activated light sources made up of CRT phosphors to act as transfer devices between reference spectroradiometers and CRT color measuring instruments. We describe the composition and characteristics of these sources and discuss their suitability as standards. We report on the laboratory measurement and testing of sources of similar nature obtained from a safety sign manufacturer. In these experiments we tried to tag red, green and blue sources with precise tristimulus values in order that they could serve as reference targets for the application of matrix correction methods to colorimeters. We find that chromaticity values can indeed be obtained with adequate accuracy. The establishment of reference luminance values was found to be problematic because the set of sources used showed noticeable spatial non-uniformity, a problem that should be overcome by tighter control of the fabrication process and careful sample selection.

Comparative Evaluation of Color Characterization and Gamut of LCDs versus CRTs
Liquid-crystal-displays (LCDs) and cathode-ray-tubes (CRTs) are compared with regard to color-calibration and color gamut. Applicability of common display calibration models to LCDs and CRTs is experimentally tested. Color-calibration accuracy, ease of calibration, and achievable color gamut are evaluated for the displays. An offset, matrix, and tone-response correction model is found to be sui...
متن کاملA Novel System-Level Calibration Method for Gimballed Platform IMU Using Optimal Estimation
An accurate calibration of inertial measurement unit errors is increasingly important as the inertial navigation system requirements become more stringent. Developing calibration methods that use as less as possible of IMU signals has 6-DOF gimballed IMU in space-stabilized mode is presented. It is considered as held stationary in the test location incorporating 15 di...
متن کاملLCDs Versus CRTs - Color-Calibration and Gamut Considerations
This paper presents a comparative evaluation of liquid-crystal display (LCDs) and cathode-ray tube (CRT) displays from a color-rendition and color-calibration perspective. Common display calibration models and assumptions are reviewed and their applicability to LCDs and CRTs is evaluated through an experimental study. The displays are compared with respect to the color-calibration accuracy, eas...
متن کاملProducing 65Zn and 60Co gamma sources for energy and efficiency calibration of gamma spectrometry systems
Precise calibration of energy and efficiency of gamma spectrometry systems for different geometries is very important. In most cases, preparation of these sources for educational and research centers is very difficult due to high costs and lack of access to the reactor. The purpose of this paper is to explain the procedure for production of calibration sources 65Zn and 60Co using instrumental ...
متن کاملPrediction Accuracy of Color Imagery from Hyperspectral Imagery
In this paper we present the utilization of high-spectral resolution imagery for improving low-spectral resolution imagery. In our analysis, we assume that an acquisition of high spectral resolution images provides more accurate spectral predictions of low spectral resolution images than a direct acquisition of low spectral resolution images. We illustrate the advantages by focusing on a specif...
